Málaga, 5th of June 2025, María Isabel Parra Jiménez, the eldest member of the family that owns the Solvento Group, received the award tonight at the 28th edition of the Family-Business Awards, presented by the BBVA Chair of Family Business at San Telmo Business School to business families in southern Spain who, over the years, have demonstrated their commitment to creating social wealth.

Many years have passed since, in 1961, businessman and entrepreneur Cristóbal Parra opened the then San Cristóbal residence, now the Óbal Urban Hotel. He laid the foundations for the current Solvento Group, a family business with unique ties to Marbella and its business fabric. The Parra family has been generating wealth for the city for decades, investing in talent and diversifying investments, this has led the Solvento Group to have more than 300 assets and to be listed on the BME Scaleup stock market, an entity authorized by the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV). This is the new initiative of the State Stock Exchange (BME) to facilitate access to financing for growing companies.

For all these reasons, the Parra family and the Solvento Group have been chosen to receive this award, as they meet the requirements set by the jury that grants these awards: the family’s entrepreneurial tradition, the creation of companies in particularly difficult environments, the desire to internationalize, diversify, and innovate in the Family Business, the measures adopted to promote the company’s competitiveness, the creation of social wealth, the adoption of measures that facilitate the continuity of the Family Business, etc.

During the award ceremony, a moving video was shown reviewing the family history of the Parra Group. It paid tribute to Cristóbal Parra and highlighted the legacy of honesty and humility that has guided the group’s growth. María Isabel Parra Jiménez emphasized “the importance of continuing to generate wealth that benefits Marbella, with the values instilled in us by our father and with a business vision that allows us to continue growing beyond the Costa del Sol.”

Grupo Solvento, a SOCIMI with a very promising future

The conversion of Grupo Solvento into a SOCIMI has completed the process of professionalizing the management of the Parra family’s more than 300 assets in and outside of Marbella. Family protocol dictates that, before joining the company, any family member must work abroad for a number of years.

In fact, the Parra family, through Solvento Group 2022 SOCIMI, S.A., is immersed in developing a three-year strategic plan to optimize investments in Marbella and throughout Spain. Specifically, among the SOCIMI’s latest transactions are the purchase of five commercial premises for €18.8 million in Zaragoza, San Sebastián, Benidorm, Málaga, and Madrid. These four new assets reinforce Solvento Group’s strategy of geographic expansion and its commitment to partnering with other SOCIMIs to generate synergies and capitalize on business opportunities.

In this regard, Francisco Giménez Pérez del Pulgar, CEO of Solvento Group, emphasized that “this award recognizes the Parra family’s great efforts to expand into new markets, establish strategic relationships with other companies, and go the extra mile to make this family business synonymous with entrepreneurship and professionalism.”
