Marbella, 27th July 2023.– The Italian fashion brand Peserico celebrated its first year of opening in Spain yesterday evening, by celebrating its success and global expansion with a cocktail reception and live DJ set, while several items from the brand’s new collection FW 23 were also showcased.

Over 100 guests including models, influencers, entrepreneurs and top executives from the Marbella society, as well as loyal customers, came to show their support for the boutique (located on the west side of the port) and to celebrate the first anniversary of the Italian brand’s launch on Spanish soil, alongside Ricardo Peruffo, CEO of Peserico, and Paola Gonella, Creative Director of the brand.

“Marbella is a strategic location for Peserico. This renowned Mediterranean location is a favourite destination for international tourists seeking an exclusive experience against the backdrop of enchanting natural landscapes, and where a mild and sunny climate is present for most of the year. Refined boutiques enrich the city’s streets, providing the ideal setting for a brand which represents Italian luxury and high quality,” stated the Creative Director, a lover of Marbella and its charms.

In 2022 the performance of the store in Marbella showed incredible data with an above-average percentage of local and seasonal loyal customers, breaking the seasonal trend of high-end clients that has been characteristic of the area in recent years.

“The growth trend in the summer months in comparison to the previous year is exponential, with an increase of 35% in our sales being registered”, added the CEO of the Italian brand. “Among the investments carried out in 2022, the opening of our boutique in Puerto Banús has been one of the most successful and highest performing, which has consolidated Peserico’s connection with tourist destinations of the highest level”.

According to the brand, the customer profile of the Puerto Banús shop is 100% international and comes from all over Europe and the Middle East. This is a high-spending clientele that likes to stay in Marbella or has a second residence in the city and chooses to spend a few months a year here. They are aged between 30 and 60, love fashion and, above all, appreciate the sartorial style of Peserico garments, the Made in Italy quality, and the attention to detail. From the refined, versatile and timeless style of the Main Collection to the sumptuous garments of the Aurea collection, with its precious and shiny fabrics: the Peserico style is appreciated in all its expressions by a cultured, cosmopolitan international clientele with refined taste.

NEW FW23 COLLECTION

Taking advantage of the anniversary event of the brand’s first store opening in Spain, Peserico presented its new collections for the coming season, which include the Origini Autumn/Winter collection for women – based on a timeless standard of beauty which has been inspired by the Stone, Bronze & Iron Ages to give these natural materials an unprecedented contemporary style. The muse for this collection was Iris Cornelia Love, an American archaeologist famous for the rediscovery of the Temple of Aphrodite at Knidos and a regular visitor to the Bel Paese.

Furthermore, the Aurea collection takes inspiration from another moment in the history of mankind. In this case, at the peak of the parable that unifies the past with the future, the Golden Age, reflecting a concept that revolves around nocturnal tones, fluid lines, refined structures, light fabrics and crisp silks for an intimate and discreet style of luxury.

‘Made in Italy’ grows worldwide

Despite the negative economic situation, particularly towards the end of the year, Italian fashion has shown great resilience. According to the latest estimates published by the National Chamber of Italian Fashion (CNMI), the turnover of the sector, which includes textiles, leather goods, clothing, footwear, jewellery, beauty and eyewear, is expected to reach 98.3 billion euros in 2022, an increase of 18% in one year. In 2023, the trend is expected to slow slightly, with sales growth of around 4%, reaching 102.2 billion euros.

The most interesting results were recorded on an international scale, driven by remarkable performances in the United States (+39.1%), South Korea (+31%) and the UAE (+34.2%). Between January and the end of October 2022, Italian exports increased by 19% (+18.2% within the EU alone). In clothing, leather goods and footwear alone, exports to the US market soared by 51.9%, 30.2% to Korea, 23.6% to France, 19.9% to Spain and 16.5% to Germany. ‘Made in Italy’ has also grown in the United Kingdom (+16.5%) after the decline caused by Brexit in the recent years.

In the case of Peserico in 2022, the group expanded by 24% on a global level in comparison to the previous year. This growth has been driven principally by the recovery of the direct channel (Retail and Online), with a superior growth of 49%, while the wholesale sector has continued its trend with an increase of above 12%.

In terms of retail, the positive evolution is linked both to the increase recorded in the first half of the year and to the opening of stores in Puerto Banús in Spain, Berlin in Germany and four new branches in the U.S. In terms of products, the increase of sales was also driven by the continued growth of men’s fashion, as well as the new Peserico Aurea Line, which debuted in the previous year.

In terms of countries, the main growth was generated by the USA, where 22M sales were achieved with a growth of +46%. A strong contribution was also made by the domestic market, driven by the recovery of direct shops compared to 2021 (+43%).

In addition, since 2022 the brand has showcased its products at the Milan Fashion Week, one of the world’s most important fashion events, presenting its collections and reaffirming its position within the sector.

In 2023, the Italian brand continues its expansion in the principal European markets, focusing on exclusive and luxury tourist destinations with the opening of new stores on the island of Capri (Italy), in Sylt (northern Germany) as well as their new flagship store in the Milan Fashion District, located on Via della Spiga.

According to Peruffo, “the objectives and expectations for 2023 include reaching consolidated net sales of 100 million euros, maintaining both the growth of the direct channel as the main focus, while also concentrating on the continued development of the distribution of menswear, the Aurea Line and the new Peserico Easy Line.
