The Marbella Football Club pays homage to Sergio Scariolo as he gives the kick-off of honor

Last Sunday the 4th of October, Sergio Scariolo, the trainer and coach for the Spanish national basketball team, was commissioned to perform the kick-off of honor in the match between Marbella FC and Sevilla Atlético. The football club paid reverence to this brand-new Eurobasket champion as a result of his recent triumph as the Spanish coach and for his long and successful sporting career.

This is not the first time that the Marbella Football club has honored some of their neighbors; Luis Ángel Maté and Javier Mérida are some of the many that have also executed the kick-off of honor as an acknowledgment of their fantastic sporting trajectories.

Additionally, the city offered their particular respect to Scariolo due to the victory in the Eurosbasket competition and the proudness in the nation´s decision. Furthermore, on the 24th of September the mayor of Marbella, José Bernal, met with the coach (a resident of Marbella for years) and above all, documented Scariolo´s outstanding commitment to the community. Accordingly, Bernal invited him to sign the Town Hall´s Book of Honor.
