A moving tribute to Toa Paterna on the opening day of the IV Basketball Clinic

A MOVING TRIBUTE TO TOA PATERNA.

On the opening day, the International Basketball Clinic was dedicated to the family of the Malagan coach.

Malaga, 1st of May 2011: there had never been an opening day like this one. The Basketball community showered affection and sympathy on the family of Toa Paterna. It was in the first session of the Fundación Cesare Scariolo´s International Basketball Clinic that this dedication to the bereaved family of much missed basketball trainer took place. The coach´s mother, Antonia Barranco, received a bouquet of flowers and a plaque commemorating her son as an important figure in Malagan basketball. Lost to lung cancer, Toa Paterna dedicated a large part of his professional career to training youth club teams which went on to play basketball professionally. Those who knew him remember his kindness and his exrtaordinary talents in working with his teams, perhaps thanks to his psychology degree. Tomorrow the second day of the fourth International Basketball Clinic will take place, with the participation of Paco Alonso (Trainer of the Rincón Clinic LEB ORO), Ettore Messina (excoach to Real Madrid), Chus Mateo (Trainer of UNICAJA ACB), Juan Antonio Orenga (manager to SUB-20) and the Spanish Basketball team coach and president of the FCS, Sergio Scariolo.
