Alongside Olivares, the event was attended by Isabel Cintado, delegate of Social Rights and Lourdes Romero, responsible for the charity in Marbella. Olivares relayed the importance of the charity´s presence in Marbella where they have already held various activities with a great response. “In Marbella we have already served 22 children and their families to date.” he explained, stressing “it is about spreading the word that childhood cancer is a reality”. “We come here, not to touch wallets, but to touch hearts,” he concluded. Lourdes Romero was in charge of listing the entire programme of activities in which she promised “alma, magia y corazón” or “soul, magic and heart”. 3rd of April: The programme will commence at El Trapiche Cultural Centre in San Pedro Alcántara at 8:30 pm with the talk ‘Embracing your Fears’ by the president of the foundation, Andrés Olivares himself. There will also be participation from Alicia Velasco, Bach flower therapist, who will give a talk entitled ‘Flowers, Soul and Mind’ and a speech from coach and and lecturer, Pilar Carrasco, entitled ‘The Happiness Pill’. 19th of April: There will be an informative event at the Magna Clinic Marbella. All funds raised at the fun day, as well as moneys raised from tickets to April´s charity luncheon will go directly to the support programmes that the Andrés Olivares Foundation has put in place to help children with cancer and their families. Between 25th and 27th of May: The Andrés Olivares Foundation will also participate in the Forum ACCE (Art + Culture + Science + Spirituality) with the presence of charity volunteers over the three days, as well as a talk by Olivares. On June 26th: The children of the foundation will visit Marbella. The city will host about 50 people, including children and their parents, who will spend the morning learning to cook in the Food Room facilities with the Italian chef Paolo. In the afternoon there will be refreshments and a coaching session directed by Gema Campos. Date to be confirmed: The programme of activities will close with an 80s party at Casanis La Plage. This cocktail party will be a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the fun and beauty of Marbella with classic 80’s music and a great atmosphere in a stunning location. Although the date is yet to be confirmed, the foundation wanted to be sure that this event was included on the list as this is set to be a charity event that will put the Andres Olivares Foundation on the map. About the Andrés Olivares Foundation The Olivares Foundation (www.fundacionandresolivares.org) was founded in 2010 by Andres Olivares after the death of his son to leukemia. The charity´s first project “La Sala Blanca” is the Citizen Participation Room in the Maternity and Child Hospital of Malaga. The room is available to both sick children and their families. Its purpose: A place where they can feel at home and where the staff of the foundation and volunteers offer support during hard times; while they wait for consultations or tests. Since May 2013, the Andrés Olivares Foundation has its own headquarters with a more ambitious and comprehensive project that provides comprehensive support for children with cancer and their families. The pillars are: psychological support, physiotherapy, nutrition, reiki and educational support. Social aid is also managed from the headquarters and offers financial support to families with fewer financial resources.
